[Print]Home » Girls' Basketball NewsSURVIVAL!November 20, 2009 By Redd Rider of Good Hope High School
Good Hope won the game and to quote Head Coach Oldacre "some you win, some you just survive! Tonight we just survived!" The "survival" took the Lady Raiders to a 2-1 record after defeating the Fairview Lady Aggies 63-54. The Raiders lost a key player in the post with Freshman phenom, Kami Calvert, breaking her thumb Tuesday against West Poinit. She is out for 6 weeks. Kayla Elrod had her first return to the court after having surgery and played well. She made some great plays in the victory! With Nina Mills and Elizabeth Hardin on the bench due to fouling out of the contest, the rest of the team pulled it out. Those are two serious players on both ends of the court to replace! Freshman Kayla Tillman had possibly her best game tonight leading all scorers with 26 points. Sheila Shamblin had 10 points, Ashley Stanley had 9, Elizabeth Hardin had 6, Kayla Elrod 5, Nina Mills 4 and Darce Wilson added 3. The strength of the Ladies was defense! They played with an intense fervor throughout most of the game. When these ladies figure out how to play 4 complete quarters they will be unstoppable! Tillman lit up the three point arc with 6, Hardin had 2 while Stanley, Wilson and Elrod added 1 each. Our hats are off the the Lady Raiders of Good Hope! The Aggies Alysha Smith played strong in the post and added 19 points. Jazz Foust had 18 points as well.
